How Creativity affects Change
As the first day of the River Summit draws to a close, the evening opens into something different. The Rivers of Film Festival comes to Henley Town Hall, bringing rivers, aquatic ecosystems and their guardians to the screen.
James Murray-White is an artist and filmmaker whose work has taken him from his native Cambridgeshire chalk streams to curating the Rivers of Film Festival, which ran over two weeks across Cambridge city and county last autumn through the charity Cambridge Past Present and Future. As part of the festival, James commissioned ten short films exploring local rivers and waterways and the human connection with them. This year those films have been touring venues across the UK and James is delighted to be bringing some of them to Henley this September as well as other critical pieces of media such as Dirty Business and In our Blood.
The screening will be followed by a cast and crew Q&A offering a rare chance to hear directly from the filmmakers, protagonists, journalists and actors about the stories behind the stories. We hope you will want to stay. Tickets are just £5 .
Initiated and started in Cambridge, this project has brought together filmmakers from at least 10 locations, including the Lugg, the Wye, the Avon, and the Dart, as well as the River Cam as the starting point, and is a travelling collection of cinematic explorations of these water bodies and human emotions.
James Murray-White is an artist/filmmaker, whose work has taken him into making two films on his native Cambridgeshire chalk streams, and then developing & curating the 'Rivers Of Film' Festival, which ran over 2 weeks across Cambridge City & County last autumn, through the charity Cambridge Past Present & Future (CPPF). Part of that included commissioning 10 short films on the theme of local rivers and waterways, and human connection with them. This year these films have been on tour to various venues around the UK, and James is delighted to be bringing them to our event in Henley this autumn.
