Introducing The River Summit and Poster 2026 by artist, Vickie Amiralis

Artist Vickie Amiralis has designed The River Summit & Festival 2026 poster that depicts two swimming salmon. The festivals free, community day on the Saturday is located next to her Thames Path 30th anniversary mural creation at Mill Meadows. The two fish in the poster symbolise the importance of working together to find progression in securing a healthy river for all, as well as representing balance and peace.

Salmon were once declared extinct in the River Thames due to heavy industrial pollution and barriers. Thanks to groups working hard to bring them back some have returned but the populations have largely failed to establish naturally. Nowadays salmon sightings are exceptionally rare although some strays are reported. If someone is fishing and catches a salmon in the Thames they legally have to return it unharmed and report the sighting to authorities to help experts monitor. populations.
